Launch Trailer! Beginning of the Mystery, and Reviews :-)

Man! Sorry we’ve been quiet since launch– a lot has been going on!! Including, thankfully, SO MANY incredibly nice reviews. People are really connecting with Gone Home, and it means the world to us. Thank you, thank you so much for playing.

To celebrate, we made a launch trailer! It lays out the beginning of the mystery at the heart of Gone Home, and also showcases some of the wonderful scores and quotes we’ve been getting from sites like Polygon, Gamespot, IGN, and more. Check it out– and if you have friends who are on the fence, maybe send it their way!

We’ll do a review roundup soon– for now, check out the sites we list (and others like Rock Paper Shotgun, Kotaku, Quarter to Three, and more) to see what their writers thought of the game.

Once more: THANK YOU! Launch day has been incredible!! We’ll never forget it.

They make probably the best game of at least the last couple of years and they’re thanking us. Thank you, I say!
It’s truly a groundbreaking title. The sense of discovery, the feel of the place and most of all the real depth of your characters all fit together so perfectly, it’s unbelievable.
You did an amazing job, guys and I can’t wait to see what you’ll do in the future.

I really want to thank you guys for this. This was an absolute sublime experience, and Sam’s story (and indeed everyone’s) struck me as such profoundly beautiful glimpses into the human condition that I really couldn’t come up with a cogent thought on any other subject for the rest of the day.

I’m really happy launch day was such a success, you deserve it! You’re all awesome, and you made something wonderful. Please continue being who you are (awesome, that is).

I can’t echo Will enough. It was a beautiful story that had me in tears by the end. The gameplay struck the perfect balance between guidance and autonomy, and I love, love, love the music.

Thank you so much for creating, as far as I’m concerned, the perfect game. I can’t wait to see what you do next.

I realize this is premature, but will you guys give us some idea of how the game sells? I am emotionally invested in this game doing well.

I would also be interested in knowing at least a vague figure if it has reached your expectations or not. It’s a very unique game, I hope it paves the way for future titles from you/other teams that have a similar style of discovery and narration through exploration.

This game is like a fantastic piece of cake you never want to end, so you savor each bite. It has been many years since I played something and was so engrossed in the story. I was upset when it ended that I immediately started surfing to find out more about it (and ended up here). Like one of the previous comments, I to felt an emotional attachment to the characters, and I have a lot more I want to find out about them. I hope this is the first chapter in a very long book. BTW, I picked this up yesterday when I saw it on Steam, and completed it today. I couldn’t put it down. I bought a copy for my brother as well and he had the same reaction.

I guess we all here know that calling this experience a videogame is just an excuse for giving as many people as possible a simple and tried access to something truly special – perhaps a new type of media? Definitely a step up from Dear Esther, and that one was a shocker of itself.

We need more of this in our PCs. you nailed it, guys! I don’t suppose Gone Home should be a chaper of a longer story, but “playing” other stories told with similar language for me is clearly just a matter of time. I can only hope that the other story-tellers have as much good taste and command of the medium.

Keep up the good work, guys!
